A Fruitful Start to 2025 for Sparrow Schools
Sparrow Schools Educational Trust remains committed to empowering children and youth with neurodiversity.
March and April highlights included the Teddy Bear Picnic, where Grade 2 learners received teddy bears from Smoke, and the inauguration of new student learners.
System Air donated ceiling fans to improve learning conditions, while Deutsche Bank volunteers engaged students in arts, robotics, and sports.

New term, new possibilities
On the 8th of April the Sparrow Foundation School and Sparrow Combined Technical Skills School welcomed back its learners for the second term.
Let’s make this year one of discovery, determination, and success. Here’s to embracing challenges, celebrating progress, and creating unforgettable memories together.
Wishing all our students, educators, and families a fantastic start to the term!

Corporate Partners fostering community and our leaders for 2025
Corporate partners made a big impact—FNB Cares provided groceries and coding materials, while Gold Rush donated sports kits to inspire young athletes.
Leadership development remained a key focus with newly elected student leaders taking on their roles.
Deutsche Bank volunteers also engaged students in arts, robotics, and sports, fostering teamwork and creativity.
These contributions, along with ongoing support from volunteers and donors, continue to make a meaningful difference in creating brighter futures for our learners.

Feeding scheme
A hungry child will struggle to concentrate and take in the information that is shared by their teacher.
Many of the children at Sparrow come from underprivileged backgrounds and situations where having no food is far too ‘normal’.
It is for this reason that both the Sparrow Foundation School and Sparrow Combined Technical Skills School run a feeding scheme.
This feeding scheme is vital in ensuring that the children receive the balanced meal necessary to take on their day.

Golf Day
We’re excited to share that Renata Noble, CSI Manager at Sparrow Schools Educational Trust, visited the UK in May.
Under glorious skies, the 22nd Annual Charity Golf Day at Dulwich and Sydenham Hill Golf Club brought together trustees, friends, and supporters for a day of connection, celebration, and generosity.
From tee-off to auction, the event pulsed with purpose. Renata was honoured to speak on behalf of Sparrow, sharing stories of progress from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit. Early signs suggest a successful fundraising outcome—and even more importantly, stronger ties between all who attended.
A Trip to Remember!
In the words of Renata Noble
This May, I had the profound honour of travelling across the UK to meet with long-time partners and new friends of Sparrow Schools—a journey filled with meaningful conversations, inspiring school visits, and reaffirmed commitments to the work we do together.
Tudor Hall School, Banbury
My first stop was the vibrant Tudor Hall School, where I was graciously hosted by Deputy Head Kate Simlett. From joining VE Day celebrations to meeting with the charity committee over lunch, the day was a joyful blend of tradition and purpose.
Beachborough School, Brackley
Friday brought a warm welcome from Head Simone Mitchell and Chair of Governors Sue Barrett at Beachborough School. Their interest in a more personal, two-way partnership was heartening, and we’ve begun discussions on possible projects.
Brighton College Prep, Handcross
My visit to Brighton College Prep Handcross was a milestone moment: Sparrow was officially named the school’s long- term charity partner. The school’s 2-Peaks Challenge raised vital funds for our neurodiversity programme.
Alleyn’s School
In Dulwich, I spent a rich morning at Alleyn’s School with Janet Carlsson and Coralyn Patel, exploring a collaborative enrichment project that will see students from both our schools share their stories through fabric and art.
Dulwich Prep and Senior School
I had the pleasure to connect with Phillip Brooke. Head of Music and a trustee for the Sparrow UK Foundation. He was excited about the possibility of new opportunities.
Caldicott School
I also visited Caldicott, where I met with Jo and addressed Sixth Form learners preparing for a charity event. The school remains committed to supporting Sparrow, with the Friends of Caldicott raising additional funds. I also had the pleasure of attending a showcase and observing one of Jo’s dynamic classes.
A big thank you on behalf of everyone at Sparrow Schools. Sparrow stands deeply grateful—and more determined than ever—to grow the seeds planted during this trip into lasting change. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

IN CONCLUSION
Thank you to all of Sparrow’s supporters in the UK. Your contributions play a vital role in transforming the lives of neurodivergent children from disadvantaged communities.
Your support enables Sparrow to continue delivering impactful, meaningful programmes to neurodiverse children and youth—such as the Motor Gross Programme at the Sparrow Foundation School—that foster growth, learning, and inclusion.
